
George Foreman, one of the greatest icons in the history of boxing, died this Friday, the 21st, in the United States . He was 76 years old.
“Our hearts are broken. With deep sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved George Edward Foreman Sr., who passed away peacefully on March 21, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones,” Foreman’s family said in a statement posted on social media. The cause of death was not released.
Foreman won Olympic gold in 1968 and was the world heavyweight champion twice, in 1973, when he was 24, and in 1994, when he was 45, when he became the oldest fighter to win the heavyweight belt. In 1964, he fought Muhammad Ali in a fight that became known as the ‘fight of the century’.
