Tom Osborne, a former cabinet minister and longstanding provincial MHA, will run for the federal Liberal candidacy in the Cape Spear constituency.
Just over a week ago, Osborne made his initial announcement that he was considering the transfer.
He claims that after much thought and consultation with followers, friends, and family, the decision was made.
According to Osborne, Canada is confronted with formidable obstacles, especially in relation to the United States, and he thinks his experience would assist the nation in addressing some of these problems.
At the provincial level, he claims to have worked on some of the most difficult portfolios during the most trying periods. He claims that he is unfazed by the issues that lie ahead and that Ottawa needs someone who would strive for solutions rather than be “rocked” by them.
Osborne served as an MHA for almost 30 years before retiring last summer.
