LOS ANGELES – An inmate who left a Male Community Reentry Program facility on Sunday was being sought by authorities.
According to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, authorities received notification that 45-year-old Herber Ramosrauda had left the facility just before 3 p.m. on Sunday.
Ramosrauda was characterized as a Hispanic man who was 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighed around 160 pounds, had brown eyes and black hair, and a pale complexion.
Authorities think that the area around Wilshire Boulevard and South Bonnie Brae Street in Westlake is where he was last seen. He was last seen with a gray rucksack that was red and gray, a gray sweater, and gray pants.
On May 13, 2024, Ramosrauda was taken from Los Angeles County while serving a three-year sentence for second-degree robbery, the CDCR said.
“The MCRP allows eligible incarcerated individuals nearing the end of their sentences to serve the remainder of their time in a reentry center,” said the press release.
For soldiers who had less than two years left to serve, the voluntary program was created. It connects participants to a variety of community-based rehabilitation services that help with mental health, medical, job, education, housing, family reunification, social support, and substance use issues.
According to the CDCR, almost 99 percent of prisoners who have walked away or escaped from an adult facility, camp, in-state contract bed, or Community Rehabilitative Program Placement since 1977 have been caught.
